Changing Gender Dynamics Through Photography

by frank news
October 15, 2018

KIOO Project is an organization that works to change gender dynamics in marginalized communities by teaching photography to girls who, in turn, teach photography to boys. KIOO runs workshops with child slaves in Haiti, students living in the slums of Kenya, children from the Dalit caste – the Untouchables – in India, low-income, minority students in Brooklyn, and children living in rural Ethiopia with no electricity or running water. Access to photography means access to the freedom to create. For kids, it teaches lessons of equality and provides hope through art as a medium.
