frank at The Wing

by frank
April 10, 2019

frank moderated its first panel for a discussion on women in the miltary hosted by The Wing at their Dumbo, Brooklyn location. Simone Askew, Maura Sullivan, and CJ Juhasz all generously agreed to participate on the panel to discuss their personal stories both in and out of the US military. What ensued was an open dialogue about women in male dominated fields – what it means to be a woman working her way through that position, what it means for civilians to understand the positions and leadership roles held within military constructs, and most importantly how it feels. What transpired in this setting was an open conversation and q&a between three servicemembers and a group of civilian women lightly guided by frank.

Here we share photos from the first evening of live events, debates, and discussions with more to follow.

Simone Askew was the first black female first captain at West Point and current Rhodes scholar studying forced migration.

Maura Sullivan is a veteran of the Marine Corps. She previously served under President Obama at both the VA and Department of Defense.

CJ Juhasz is the Chief Investment Officer of Women's World Banking and a graduate of West Point.

Thank you to The Wing for opening up their doors to us. All photos were taken by Katherine Pekala.
